SMARTER THAN YOU
Coming through the doorway always feels like such a rush
Finding keys and losing steam, the day is just too much
But when I need to hide I come inside and see my sleepy cats
I know I’m home ‘cause no one gives a rat’s
There’s something ‘bout a change of rhythm, a different kinda zone
Lazy seems to be just one more word for being home
And even though I have to shove this big fat cat off of my seat
I know I’m home ‘cause he don’t give a shit
Slow down, take the shoes off and the batteries out
Hold on to the easy things that home’s about, and
Make time for a little snooze like kitties do
They’re telling you the way to make it through
And maybe they’re much smarter. Than you.
Cursing at the double parkers on a two lane street
And yelling at the bus that just made slushies of my feet
Sometimes I just feel like I can’t get into the beat
And all I feel’s the pressure and the heat
But walking through the alleyways there’s something to be learned
The clever ones sit high above the ground not getting burned
And something tells me someone smarter knows just where it’s at
And that annoying someone, is a cat.
Slow down, take the shoes off and the batteries out
Hold on to the easy things that home’s about, and
Make time for a little snooze like kitties do
They’re telling you the way to make it through
And maybe they’re much smarter than

You’ve been running fast for years, pushing through the sweat and tears
And working harder every single day
And lately you’ve been wond’ring, is there any other way?
And maybe it’s been right before your eyes
And you say you can’t see it ‘cause time flies
But it’s you that flies
It’s you that lies
So slow down, take the shoes off and the batteries out
Hold on to the easy things that home’s about, and
Make time for a little snooze like kitties do
They’re telling you the way to make it through
And maybe they’re much smarter than you
Maybe they’re much smarter
Than you
